The Symptoms of Gauche Disease

Pain, fatigue and bulkier bodies

CELL. Gaucher disease is a disease called "lysosomal storage". In the cell, contains the lysosome enzymes to degrade numerous organic molecules. Or an enzyme missing in patients with Gaucher: glucocerebrosidase. And this is not without consequences for these patients, since the most common conditions are pain, including bone crises, fatigue, the presence of enlarged spleen (splenomegaly) or an enlarged liver (hepatomegaly).

TRANSMISSION. Gaucher disease is a disease of genetic , autosomal recessive. This means that for a child is sick, both the father and mother must disclose the mutated allele. If only one of them passes him the mutated allele, then the child will not get sick.

You probably have never heard of, and for good reason: Gaucher disease is rare. It affects 1 in 60,000 in the world.

On the occasion of World Day of Gaucher disease, the combination Overcoming the Lysosomal Diseases (VML) wants to raise awareness of this disease in France: how do they affect people in France? How is it spread? Is there a treatment? Elements of answer.

Loire and Allier rivers are iconic for the migration of these fish that can no longer feed after returning freshwater than 1000 miles of streams. On the Loire, there were approximately 100,000 spawning salmon per year in the 19th century. They are less than 1,000 today.
